Introduction to this Course
Welcome to our online course - Asbestos Awareness!
This course is split into three parts and can be done at your own pace.
Scroll down to watch an introduction video from our Training Manager, Alannah Elliott. Alannah has extensive experience teaching asbestos-related topics across New Zealand and brings an approachable, engaging style to the training.
Each section has a mixture of content, including videos. You'll find quizzes after each section to reinforce what you've learned. Upon completing the course, you'll receive a certificate as recognition of your efforts.
This course is equivalent to NZQA 30596 Demonstrate knowledge of asbestos and safety measures for asbestos related work. However, there is no formal assessment so no credits will be awarded. An NZQA version of this course will be available early 2025.

Course Outline
Part 1: Introduction to Asbestos
Background of asbestos use worldwide and in Aotearoa New Zealand, including common Asbestos Containing Materials.
Part 2: Asbestos and Health Risks
Demonstrate knowledge of asbestos and associated health risks.
Part 3: Control Measures
Demonstrate knowledge of control measures to control respiratory risk for people doing asbestos related work.
